In case you missed it last night, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin was forced to leave his team’s game against the Washington Capitals after suffering an apparent knee injury on a hit from Capitals pugilist Tom Wilson.

Here’s the hit in question:

No update on Muzzin’s availability moving forward, but it’s clear that head coach Mike Babcock isn’t expecting the rugged blueliner to be in the lineup this weekend.

Interestingly enough, there had been rumblings that the Leafs were looking to move on from defenseman Martin Marincin, but Muzzin’s injury now puts that all into question.

Check out this little tidbit from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman in his latest 31 Thoughts column for Sportsnet:

Jake Muzzin ’s health could change this, but Toronto would move Martin Marincin.

The thing is… who’s lining up to submit offers for Martin Marincin?

The 27 year old blue liner is a bottom pairing defenseman at best and has never played a full NHL season. His career high in games played, goals and points came during the 2015-16 season when he put up a goal and seven points in 65 games. He’s gone pointless in six games with the Leafs this season.

Any takers? Anyone? Hello?

Well… maybe I could interest you in a slightly used Cody Ceci?
