NCAA players on the U.S. Olympic roster?

Short on NHL players as they will not be allowed to play in PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, USA's national hockey team says it will be adding NCAA players to its roster, hoping they'll make the difference between winning gold or not.

Young NHL prospects like Troy Terry of Denver University, Ryan Donato of Harvard and Jordan Greenway of Boston University will each have a shot at cracking up a spot on the US roster.

We have some 21- and 22-year olds who are high-end players who we are going to see in the NHL sooner rather than later,” said USA Hockey executive director Pat Kelleher.

No other country has that type of player available to them.”

The U.S. team hasn't made their final roster yet, but they have plenty of time between now and the opening of the Games in February. Team executives will have their pick of approximately 200 Americans playing in Europe, in the AHL with one-way contracts or in the NCAA to make its olympic roster.

Also, the Americans are expected to name their team's head coach in the days to come.
