Yesterday, the Bruins had their annual Halloween visit to the Boston Children’s Hopsital. Every year, they visit the hospital and dress up in ways to entertain the kids and have them forget about their unfortunate ailments for a moment or two.

One memorable costume was donned by Zdeno Chara himself back in 2011, when he dressed up as a large pink bunny. It was a funny sight to see for hockey fans everywhere. You can view a picture of him here (along with a few other players in their costumes at the time)

This year, a few players put on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumes, and having Brad Marchand as the wise Master Splinter was aa sight to behold. You can view pictures of this here.

This, in my opinion, is a necessary step for a team-building exercise, considering the Bruins just came out of a three-game skid. They needed the time off, forget about hockey for a short period, and literally reset not only the stress they may be facing with the season so far, but also brighten a few children’s lives for a good cause.

Seeing the Bruins players wear costumes, and share some good times with the children at the hospital reminds us all that they are, after all, humans just like us.

Sadly, not one of them dressed up as the memorable April O’Neil, a boyhood crush many of us guys surely had.
