New Oilers Athanasiou and Ennis get huge promotion

Both forwards Andreas Athanasiou and Tyler Ennis knew they were moving up when they both got traded at the deadline on Monday, one from the Detroit Red Wings, the latter from the Ottawa Senators. 

They’re now with a team slotted in for the postseason. 

What’s even better than this? 

On Tuesday morning during the skate prior to tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, head coach Dave Tippett gave them the ultimate promotion when he placed them on the first line with Connor McDavid. 

Everyone knew this was a big deal, so when reporters asked Tippett about the lineup changes after practice, he made a hilarious comment. 

“Housewarming gift.”

We will have to wait and see if that’s a good partnership. Ennis will wear his usual No. 63, but Athanasiou will swap out 72 for 28 with the Oilers.
