We have some sad news to report.

The sports world has lost one of its own as the New York Post is now reporting that in house photographer Anthony Cauci has become one of the many victims of the viral pandemic known as COVID-19, or more simply referred to as the coronavirus. The news was broken by New York Post editor in chief Stephen Lynch who released a statement confirming that Cauci had passed away.

“Anthony Causi was our colleague, our friend and a brilliant journalist,” said Lynch as per the New York Post. “He was, quite simply, one of the best sports photographers in New York City, capturing all the major moments of the past 25 years. Soft-spoken, funny, but most of all kind — he was respected by those he photographed and admired by those with whom he worked.

“The Post that you read, and the newsroom that we work in, are less colorful today because of his absence. Our hearts go out to his family, and we share their grief.”

Cauci had spent 26 years at The Post and was a well known figure in the New York sports world both due to his prolific work in covering the teams in that city and also due to his good natured personality which endeared him to those around him. What makes this all the more tragic is that Cauci was a relatively young man at just 48 years of age and he now leaves behind a wife and two young children.

It is a harsh reminder of why our beloved sports league's have been forced to shut down as a result of the ongoing pandemic and it is also a harash reminder of just how vigilant we need to be to protect ourselves and protect our loved ones in this difficult time.
