For many players being recognized as one of the National Hockey League's All Stars is a dream come true and thanks to a number of fans from around the hockey world that dream has just come true for 4 more players.

On Saturday the NHL announced the result of its Last Man In competition, a competition in which 4 winning players would be added to the All Star game roster. the Last Man In competition was effectively a glorified popularity contest however so these selections were not based on player skill but instead fans were free to vote for the player that they simply liked the most. This has resulted in some selections on this list being heavily criticized and I suppose that some of those criticism are fair, however it is important to note that fan engagement is what drives the sport at the end of the day.

According to a report from Sportsnet's National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston the four men who will be joining their peers at the All Star Game will be Mitch MarnerT.J. OshieDavid Perron, and Quinn Hughes. Marner, a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs, will represent the Atlantic Division, Oshie, a forward for the Washington Capitals, will represent the Metropolitan Division, Perron, a forward for the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues will represent the Central Division and Hughes, a defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks, will represent the Pacific Division.
