NHL announces suspension for Stafford's ridiculous high stick.

We can at times disagree with the suspensions handed out by the National Hockey League, but this seems like a case of getting it just right.

There's no question that the league had to send a message, flailing your stick around like a mad man could cause someone to be severely injured, and there's no doubt that Drew Stafford's high stick on Nick Holden deserved to be reviewed.

However as we stated in our initial report, we do not believe Stafford was intentional slashing another player in the face, and to punish him as such would be innapropriate. Therefore we believe the decision, a one game suspension, was the appropriate way to proceed although Nick Holden may have liked to see a harsher punishment for the new gash on his face.
