NHL announces the general manager of the year.
Keystone Press.

The National Hockey League has announced it's general manager of the year.

According to a report from Josh Yohe of DK Sports, the winner is Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford, and considering just how much the players he traded for contributed ti winning a Stanley Cup, it's well deserved.

The general manager of the year award has the distinction of being the only award that is not voted on immediately following the regular season, and instead the ballot is cast several weeks in to the postseason. This would have allowed Rutherford's trades to truly shine and undoubtedly had a major influence on the outcome of this vote.
