The NHL announced its three nominees for the league’s GM of the Year award and… quite frankly, there are some MAJOR snubs.
The three men nominated for 2018-19:
Don Waddell - Carolina Hurricanes
Doug Armstrong - St. Louis Blues
Don Sweeney - Boston Bruins
All deserving candidates but… how does Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen not get a nod? The guy had the biggest stones of any GM in the league this season and was rewarded with not only a playoff spot, but a first round sweep of the President’s Trophy winning Tampa Bay Lightning.
Or how about Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving? He transformed the Flames from a pretender to a contender with some HUGE offseason trades. Ditto for Doug Wilson who cemented the Sharks as a Cup favourite by chasing down Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators.
