San Jose Sharks beat reporter Paul Gackle, who works for Mercury News, has reportedly been stabbed last Friday, early in the morning. Police are looking for a woman suspect, who remains at large. The news organization reported on the crime, but did not want to name the victim because of the ongoing investigation.

However, colleagues still identified Gackle to San Jose Insidea blog that covers politics and culture in the San Jose area, who published the information earlier today.

Mercury News reported on the incident: "At 2:20 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of Redbird Drive after receiving a call that a person had been stabbed, according to Officer Albert Morales. The man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The woman, whose identity is not known to police, was not located and remains at large."

We have still no information about the motive or the circumstances surrounding the assault. An investigation is still ongoing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family in these difficult times.
