We all expected it, but it was finally confirmed on Friday.

The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players’ Association today announced the postponement of its 2020 international games.

“The NHLPA and the NHL remain committed to maintaining and growing our international presence. We hope that our fans overseas understand the need to postpone the 2020 games, but we look forward to being back with them in 2021.”

Therefore, the 2020 Global Series games in Europe have been postponed due to COVID-19. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche were supposed to face off in Helsinki, while the Boston Bruins were expected to take on the Nashville Predators in Prague.

Many insiders expect, as time move forward and the 2019-20 season remains in limbo, that the All-Star Games and Winter Classic could also get cut from the schedule.
