NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed yesterday that the league will not be scheduling preseason games in China for the 2019-20 preseason, following two successful campaigns to begin the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. The NHL will reportedly return to China for the 2020-21 season, however.

The Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames faced off for two games in China this past September. However, despite the league not holding any games in China for next season, they have committed to investing in the area in the hopes of growing hockey ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
