And fans need to keep on waiting…

Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly informed TSN’s insider Pierre LeBrun that it does not appear an NHL hub city announcement will be made on Friday. It appears that a decision will be reached for now.

LeBrun reported earlier on Friday that the NHL could make its announcement if the NHL and NHL Players’ Association could come to a decision, but the two sides still have more to iron out. He explained how there is a sense that things are extremely close between the bids of Edmonton and Toronto, with one source giving a slight edge to Toronto.

On Thursday night, it was confirmed that Vancouver was officially out as an NHL hub city for Return to Play, leaving Chicago, Edmonton, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Toronto as the remaining options to host the league’s return.

As many believe, Vegas remains a top contender and expected hub city destination for the league’s Phase 4, which is scheduled to begin in late July or early August.

But for the official decision, we will have to wait some more…
