Ouch. A rough ending for the veteran forward.

This just in, Edmonton Oilers forward Kyle Brodziak has reportedly failed his physical evaluation and is expected to be placed on long-term injury reserve for the 2019-20 season, effectively ending his NHL career.

The 35 year old Brodziak has suffered through back issues for a few seasons now, but did manage to play 70 games with the Oilers last season. If this is indeed the end for the gritty veteran, he’ll finish his NHL career with 129 goals and 296 points in 917 games split between the Oilers, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues.

Unfortunately for Brodziak, he picked the wrong time to leave the Blues organization as he signed with the Oilers just months before the Blues’ Stanley Cup champion season in 2018-19. Ouch…

Brodziak was a tough as nails forward in his heyday and was never afraid to drop the gloves, no matter who he lined up against.
