I case you missed it, Game 3 of the Western Conference Final between the San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues ended in controversy last night after Erik Karlsson scored the overtime game winner off an illegal play.

The problem? Karlsson was the recipient of a blatant hand pass from teammate Timo Meier.

Up first, the goal:

And the hand pass:

Yikes… that’s…. that’s pretty blatant.

As you might expect, Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was NOT happy.

A day later and the NHL still hasn’t officially come out to explain the goal, but they have at least done something… they’ve scrubbed any mention of the hand pass from their online presence.

There’s no mention or sight of Meier’s hand pass and the ensuing controversy on any of the highlights, recaps or post-game commentary on official NHL channels like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

That’s a pretty big gaffe from the NHL and, quite frankly, it’s totally unprofessional. Blues fans, and hockey fans as a whole, deserve a proper explanation for last night’s call.
