The summer is expected to be loud for star defenseman P.K. Subban as his name gets  dropped in just about every trade rumor for the past calendar year and now deep into the postseason.

The Nashville Predators blue liner even acknowledged the possibility of getting traded this summer when faced once again by the media questions when his team’s season ended.

Due to his $ 9 million contract per year, the Predators could look to get rid of Subban in order to have more leeway under the salary cap. The veteran blue liner still has three more seasons to his current deal and it has been reported many times that the Preds will need to make heartbreaking choices ahead of the 2020 draft for the new Seattle expansion.

While it always sounds like quite the challenge to move Subban and his heft contract, one NHL executive and an NHL scout have decided to make things even harder for Preds general manager David Poile as he attempts to trade Subban.

In an interview with The Athletic, the NHL executive and scout, who have decided to remain anonymous, took at shot at Subban’s character, probably getting to the heads of teams’ GMs looking to potentially acquire the defenseman.

“Too much P.K. It’s too much everything,” said one NHL source this week.
“I don’t have him as a top two defenseman,” said an NHL scout. “I have him as a second pairing. I think as the game continues to speed up, that’s given him some trouble. I’m not sure his legs are as fresh as they used to be.”

If Subban’s character is being put into question and GMs are reminded of his game declining, Poile might not be able to find a trade partner to rid him off Subban’s deal.

If a GM can pull it off, it has to be Poile…
