What a twist.

I have to admit when this was sent to me today it completely caught me off guard, and just by telling you there is a surprise in this video I am in many ways spoiling some of the surprise but I promise you it will still be well worth it.

A video published on Youtube under the name "NorthernWoodworker" was hosted on the video sharing platform just earlier today and at the time of this writing still only has a few 100 views, but I think it deserves much more. In the video we see an unidentified fan hard at work crafting a beautiful piece of art, a Red Wings logo made entirely out of a single piece of wood. The man in the video carefully outlines his project before cutting into it carefully to make sure to get it just right, and when he holds it up to the camera it appears to be nothing short of a masterpiece.

He then quickly gives the rather plain looking wood a nice fresh coast of red paint and all of a sudden we've got a beautiful logo that looks just like the real thing. Although it does seem rather frail and flimsy there is no denying that this is a nice piece of work and its no doubt one that many fans would be proud to own, but unfortunately that will never come to pass.

I won't spoil anything else other than to say the man making this beautiful project may in fact not be a Red Wings fan, and for those of you who don't get the reference to Chris Osgood at the end of the video, I'll include another video below to let you in on the joke.

And here is the fight involving former Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood that is referenced at the end of the video. The fight is between the aforementioned Osgood and then Colorado Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy. Our crafter in the video mentions that he has waited many years for the Red Wings to be a bad team again, and if I had to take a wild guess I would suspect that he may be a fan of the Colorado Avalanche, a franchise that had a pretty intense rivalry with the Red Wings not so long ago.
