NHL goaltender declines request from his team!

Once you get a taste of the NHL, it's difficult to let it go. Andrew Hammond for sure would say the same as he just declined his team's request to be sent down to Binghampton for a conditioning stint. The Hamburglar had a groin injury who forced the Ottawa Senators to acquire Mike Condon as a backup to Craig Anderson who's still dealing with his wife's cancer.

When it comes to goaltender, two is usually company but three's a crowd. The Ottawa Senators needed Hammond's approval to send him down for conditionning, otherwise he'd have to be placed on waivers.

“We’ve talked about it and it’s ultimately something that’s in the player’s hands,” Hammond told Postmedia after the morning skate. “Once I feel it’s not beneficial for me to be here and practising with NHL players, we’ll definitely address that." - According to Bruce Garrioch

Hammond played 4 periods so far and allowed 6 goals.
