NHL great reports Tavares will be traded shortly!

There is a lot going on with the New York Islanders lately. The team recently submitted a proposal to do what many fans think they should have done a long time ago, to move back to Long Island, and the announcement came amid rampant speculation that Isles captain John Tavares would not be signing an extension with the team without a better arena situation secured for both the team's future as well as his own future. 

Now, former Islanders legend and NHL great Mike Bossy made a shocking report on Wednesday on the air of Montreal radio station 91,9 Sports. According to Bossy, if the Isles are not in the running before Christmas, Tavares will be traded. 

Several rumors had Tavares possibly ending up with the Buffalo Sabres or the Montreal Canadiens, but the forward did say he was hoping to stay in New York. The Toronto Maple Leafs have also shown some interest in the star player. However, fans still don't know if GM Garth Snow has the right offer to have his captain stick with the team. 

Tavares is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
