While the NHL and NHL’s Players Association are working hard at getting a final scenario approved to get hockey underway and crown a Stanley Cup champion this season, some details still need to be ironed out before play can resume.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman guaranteed hockey fans that the league will return at some point this spring/summer earlier this week, but admitted that logistics need to be sorted out. The league is currently looking at 24-team playoff format and hub cities, but has been tight lipped on any potential plans.

However, insider Jonathan Bernier of the Journal de Montreal has found out that the league has already decided where the Stanley Cup finals would take place later on this summer. Bernier reports that conference finals and the Cup final would take place in one city, and Las Vegas has been chosen to be the location.

Bernier adds that because the city is filled with hotels and accommodations, players would be able to bring their families along for the rest of the tournament.

As insider Pierre LeBrun pointed out last week, there’s about eight or nine teams that are seen still as potential candidates to be one of those four host cities.

But Vegas is the ultimate winner that will get to host the finals of the championship run.
