NHL has surprising solution to hold its entry draft

On Thursday, the NHL officially hit pause on the 2019-20 season on Thursday, an unprecedented step amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

This will have an impact on multiples aspects of the game, and while the current schedule is getting hit hard, we have to expect that the rest of the season - and offseason - will have to undergo major changes as well.

Many fans are thinking about the draft -  as the lottery is expected to take place next month. There is no doubt that the draft has to take place, however, it is believed that it could take place online and/or at a later date instead of being held at Montreal’s Bell Centre on June 26-27.

Earlier this week, Pierre LeBrun had reported that the combine could be in jeopardy, but seeing that the draft doesn’t technically require any in-person contact, we could have a first in NHL history and see an online event.
