NHL head coach takes a shot at Carey Price on Wednesday night.

Without the Toronto media “there would be no Carey Price.”

One National Hockey League head coach may have gone a bit far in his attempts to praise his goaltender.

Following a big win for the Minnesota Wild in Toronto, Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau was praising his goaltender Devan Dubnyk when he was asked if Dubnyk belonged in the Vezina conversation. His answer was a loaded one:

"If he(Dubnyk) was in Toronto there would be no Carey Price. I'm just saying media wise."

The implication here by Boudreau is that if Dubnyk were playing for a big market team he would be overshadowing Price as the league's best goaltender, and if you look at this season in isolation Boudreau does have a case to make. Dubnyk currently ranks first in save percentage(.946), first in goals against average(1.68), and first in shutouts(4) for the 2016-2017 National Hockey League season.

Nonetheless Boudreau's comments are likely going to cause some controversy.
