New York Islanders' captain John Tavares has had the possibility to sign a new deal since July 1st. Exactly four months later, the star centerman is still without a contract for next season. But whether he decides to stay in New York or not doesn't change anything: his next deal will be absolutely massive.
TSN insider Darren Dreger made a prediction about how much the #91 will earn starting next year. And the numbers are just enormous.
Do you think the Habs could afford him, considering Carey Price's eight-year, $84 million contract kicks in next season?
Tavares already has 11 goals and 4 assists for 15 in just 12 games this season. He is currently in the last season of a six-year, $33 million contract. The 2009 first-overall pick played 587 NHL games, in which he recorded 235 goals and 302 assists for 537 points. He added 22 points in 24 playoff games.
