Multiple NHL insiders have connected and former Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher to the Philadelphia Flyers’ vacant GM position, some including TSN’s Darren Dreger have even confirmed that Flyers brass has met with Fletcher for an interview.

Other former NHL GM’s like Ron Francis and Steve Yzerman are also likely in the mix for the spot, so at this point it’s just a matter of time until Flyers president Paul Holmgren and CEO Dave Scott make their decision. What we don’t know is whether or not the team’s next GM will keep head coach Dave Hakstol on board or replace him with a new hiring.

According to Adrian Dater of BSN Denver and formerly of The Denver Post, a Fletcher hiring could pave the way to former Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville joining the Flyers organization, as well.

Check it out:

If Philly hires Chuck Fletcher as GM, as reports say is strong possibility, I'd have to believe Coach Q would be his hire as coach. Q is very close to the Fletcher family. Got his coaching start thanks to Cliff hiring him way back when.

If you wanted change, this is IT, Flyers fans!

There’s no doubt that Fletcher and Quenneville would give this stale organization a breath of fresh air. But with Holmgren’s track record of hiring former Flyers alumni, we’re not holding our breath on this announcement anytime soon. Still, it’s an intriguing option for Fletcher should he end up getting the job. Stay tuned.
