When the Washington Capitals’ season ended with another disappointing playoff loss, it was difficult to find anyone in the team’s dressing room who was optimistic for the future. One player however, forward T.J. Oshie, couldn’t say enough good things about the team and hopes to return.

When asked if he’d like to return to Caps for next season, Oshie replied, “Yeah, this group of guys, the organization, the coaches, it’s been a great fit for me and it’s been a great fit for my family. So, I’d like to come back here.”

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun recently caught up with Caps general manager Brian MacLellan and got a little insight into the team’s plan for Oshie moving forward:

Those key RFAs? Just burgeoning stars Evgeny Kuznetsov, Andre Burakovsky, Dmitry Orlov and Nate Schmidt. That’s a lot of work to accomplish in such a short period of time, but if MacLellan is able to get it done, look for negotiations to take place with Oshie in advance of the opening of free-agency on July 1st.
