What a scum bag.

It takes a special kind of scum bag to pull off a stunt like this.

A rather disturbing report from the St. Catharines Standard has revealed that National Hockey League legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Marcel Dionne has been the victim of a senseless and rather heinous robbery. According to the report a thief has made off with a pair of Dionne's boyhood skates which were put up on display at his Montrose Road memorabilia store as something of a novelty item, not an object that was ever up for sale. In fact Dionne believes that even attempting to sell the skates would have been very difficult as any dealer would have been sure to have asked a ton of questions about their authenticity.

“It’s more of a sentimental thing than anything else,” said Dionne as per the Standard.

Here's how Dionne discovered he had been robbed as per the Standard:

On Good Friday, the hockey hall of famer was giving a tour to a group of 65 people from his hometown of Drummondville, Quebec. The group included 20 kids playing in a hockey tournament at the Gale Centre, and Dionne wanted to show them his skates.

That’s when he noticed the skates – as well as an eight-by-10 photo of his youthful self wearing them – were missing.

Of course it would have to happen when he was trying to show a couple of kids a good time over the holiday weekend. In spite of the fact that the skates do not have any particular monetary value they were deeply sentimental for the former Detroit Red Wing, Los Angeles King and New York Ranger, and for good reason. The skates were giving to him when he was just two years old and while that would have been enough to make them a sentimental piece for Dionne, they are even more special. You see the reason Dionne still has the skates are due to the fact that his mother saved them for all those years, cherishing the memory of her young son, and they only came into Dionne's possession after she passed away. He has displayed them in his store ever since, that is at least until now.
