NHL makes controversial call on Holden’s hit on Leivo!

The Vancouver Canucks might have won the game over the Vegas Golden Knights, but lost forward Josh Leivo on Thursday night when he did not return due to a lower-body injury after getting hit into the boards during the second period.

The Canucks forward was attempting to retrieve the puck along the boards when he was shoved from behind by Knights defenceman Nick Holden at 8:18 in the middle frame.

Leivo was left writhing in pain and was seen favouring his right leg on his way out. He smashed his stick against the boards in frustration before heading to the dressing room.

He was not the only one upset with the hit. Many fans are calling it dirty and wonder why a boarding penalty was not assigned to Holden and why the league has not reviewed the play. 

To make things worse, the Canucks appeared too upset about the non call and the Golden Knights added insult to injury when Holden’s point shot beat Jacob Markstrom just 28 seconds later to tie the game.

The update on Leivo after the game did not sound encouraging and it seems like no one will pay for it.
