NHL now officially selling team licensed COVID-19 masks

The NHL unveiled a new product today… team licensed COVID-19 face coverings.

For real? For real.

As Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston reports, proceeds from the sales will go to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada COVID-19 Response Fund. 

My first thought was just how tacky and insensitive this is… but you know what? If people want a silly Pittsburgh Penguins or Boston Bruins face covering who am I to judge? If the NHL is going to step up and make food bank donations because of it, well now I’m all for it.

We need more examples of the NHL stepping up its fight against COVID-19, not fewer, no matter how silly it may seem from the outside.
