The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety is gearing up for what sounds like it might be a suspension.

They have announced that they have reviewed the hit on New York Rangers veteran Dan Girardi from Wednesday night, a hit that was delivered by Boston Bruin David Pastrnak and as a result have determined that a hearing is warranted.

Pastrnak has never been in trouble with Player Safety before so that will play in his favor, but his hit on Girardi did appear to land high, and when watching the slow motion replay it also appears that he lifts one of his feet off the ice prior to contact, resulting in him driving upwards into Girardi's head.

The fact that he has no prior suspension will likely play into his favor, so this ruling will be an interesting one.
