NHL insider Michael Russo was exciting to announce on Tuesday evening that many NHL Europeans are flying back to North America this week via commercial or group charters.

He confirmed the news when he reported to the Minnesota Wild fanbase that their favourite players from Europe should be back in town by Friday to satisfy two-week quarantine for July 10 training camp start date.

This report goes with the plan to get all players back before the end of the month, in time to join their teammates for the start of training camp in a couple of weeks.

However, Russo was not able to confirm if players from Russia would be returning at the same time.

With some many players returning from abroad, it will be important for teams to make sure they follow the quarantine process and get tested before joining the rest of the team.

The NHL announced Friday night that 11 players have tested positive for COVID-19 since Phase 2 of the league’s return-to-play plan started on June 8.  The Tampa Bay Lightning was also forced to temporarily shut down their training facility during Phase 2 because multiple players and some staff tested positive for COVID-19.

With more players coming into towns, you bet teams and the league will have to keep a close eye on everyone.
