Every single person that will reads this words has one thing in common, you are all fans of the sport of hockey.

As is always the case with any fandom around the world, regardless of what that fandom may be, the one thing you can count on in all of them is that the people who care the most about their passion are going to have very strong opinions about that passion. In the case of sports fans around the world those opinions often shape themselves into love or hate of a specific player or team of players but what is interesting is that which players are loved or hated can change drastically depending on which fan that you speak to. What you often don't get to hear however is how other players inside the sport feel about the players that they play against throughout their careers.

Every once in a while though we are lucky enough to get a look inside the minds of the players themselves and one such opportunity presented itself this week when The Athletic released the results of a six week long survey that they conducted around the National Hockey league. The Athletic spoke to nearly 200 different NHL players from all around the league with nearly an even split between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference and some of the questions put forward were extremely interesting to say the least.

One of the juiciest topics from the survey was regarding the topic of overrated players. As you would expect NHL players are reluctant to call out their fellow players but thanks to the promise of anonymity many were in fact to answer a very tough question, "Who is the most overrated player in the NHL?"

Unfortunately for the player who won the survey it was not a very close result at all. Nashville Predators star defenseman P.K. Subban won the poll by a landslide claiming a whopping 23% of the total vote from his fellow players. When you consider that the answers were not restricted by any constraints the fact that so many players would immediately select Subban is not a good sign for the level of respect his skills have earned him around the league.

Round out the top 5 were Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine with 9% of the vote, Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad with 6% of the vote, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Dion Phaneuf with 4% of the vote, San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson also with 4% of the vote.
