NHL reporter feels the need to deny McDavid's trade rumor!

We all know: things are not going according to plan with the Edmonton Oilers. The Canadian team currently sits in 28th place of the National Hockey League, are out of playoff contention after an impressive run last spring, and general manager Peter Chiarelli is trying to sort out all the trades he can make before the Feb. 26 deadline to prevent all this from happening again next season.

But do we really feel it necessary to say the captain, superstar player and former Hart trophy winner Connor McDavid is not on the trade block?!

We apparently do, after several fans kept asking STLToday.com reporter Jeff Gordon if there was a way the St. Louis Blues could package a deal to land McDavid.

The fan in question wonders if the Blues could acquire McDavid by moving Colton Parayko, Jake Walman, Jaden Schwartz and two first round picks for the Oilers captain.

"Crazy idea," he writes off the bat. "Edmonton would never do something like that, of course. If McDavid was really available, of course the Blues would take a look at it.

Are we really there now? This might be something all fans from NHL teams dream of, but the Oilers might not make the playoffs this year, McDavid is staying in Edmonton.

This is getting out of hand - but remains quite entertaining.
