If you were expecting some big surprises for the fan vote this year then I am sorry to say you are going to be very disappointed. The National Hockey League has just announced its 4 captains for the 2020 National Hockey League All-Star Game and the four men who have received the honor this time around are all superstar level players that have established themselves as some of the elite players of this generation.

The reveal kicked off with the captains from the Eastern Conference and low and behold the two men selected are from each of the first place teams in the respective divisions. Representing the Atlantic Division will be the red hot David Pastrnak who has been scoring goals at an insane pace during the 2019 - 2020 NHL regular season and who's Bruins remain at the top of their division in spite of a recent slump. Pastrnak will be joined by the captain of the Metropolitan Division and that man will be captain of the first place Washington Capitals, star forward Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin is one of the biggest stars in the game today himself continues to score at a legendary pace in his career.

On the other side of the ice we will have the captains representing the Western Conference but this time neither of the players representing at the All-Star Game have teams that currently lead their division. The captain of the Central Division will be Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon who's Avalanche currently sit in second place in the Central behind the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues at this time. MacKinnon will be joined by Edmonton Oilers superstar forward Connor McDavid who will take a break from captaining the Oilers briefly to captain the Pacific Division, perhaps the least surprising result of the voting. Like the Avalanche the Oilers have been overtaken in their division and currently sit behind both the Arizona Coyotes and Las Vegas Golden Knights.

As I stated above these results will come as a surprise to absolutely no one given the popularity and relative skill of all the players that were selected here but perhaps some of you have a differing opinion. If you felt a player was snubbed give us your thoughts on today's announcement from the NHL.
