NHL's new plan will push return back even further!

While the NHL and its Players' Association are working hard in the hopes of finding solutions to save the 2019-20 season and its playoffs, several scenarios are being carefully reviewed. 

For weeks now, it appears that the most probable scenario was to resume play in June with teams’ training camp lasting a few weeks and then getting games going in July. However, it is believed that there is now another plan on the table, one that might not enchant fans as much during the shutdown. 

According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports, the league could also be looking at the possibility of waiting as long as possible and resume the end of its 2019-20 season and the playoffs in September and even October.

Some governors have shared that derail with LeBrun over the weekend, which means the league could be talking about this option as we speak. 

This idea is fuelled by the hope that the NHL would be able to hold playoffs in the 16 arenas of the competing teams instead of neutral sites. Some even hope fans could attend the games, though this part seems a bit far-fetched at the moment. 

Anyways, it appears that this scenario is on the table and could be chosen in the end when play can be resumed. 

Just last week, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman confirmed the possibility of postponing the start of the 2020-21 campaign to December if he needed more time to complete the current season.
