Nikita Kucherov is unstoppable this season. The Russian forward currently leads the entire NHL with 120 points and keeps racking up the goals and assists in the last stretch of the calendar.

In the past week, the Tampa Bay Lightning star forward has recorded two goals and nine points in just five games - the guy is just a machine in the Bolts’ best season as they just clinched the President’s Trophy earlier on Monday.

However, an interview with NHL.com from 2011 has resurfaced on Friday to reveal how Kucherov ended up playing hockey. And it was complete fluke!

"It was like an accident,” Kucherov told NHL.com via a translator. “We moved to Moscow and my mother went to look for a job and we were passing a hockey rink and she went there and got work and decided to bring me to play hockey.”

Imagine if she had ended up working for a bakery! We would have been robbed on this great talent.

Kucherov has everything: patience. Awareness. Deception. A killer shot. And he keeps improving year by year: his previous career high in points was 100, which he reached last season. He scored 40 goals during in 2016-17 and has a good chance at passing that mark as he’s scored 37 through 75 games this season.

Let’s all thank him mother for choosing to get work at the hockey rink!
