The NHL has officially handed out a three game suspension to Philadelphia Flyers rookie Joel Farabee for his late hit on Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault from yesterday evening.

Farabee received a five minute major and a game misconduct for the hit, while Perreault did not return to the game.

Here's the hit in question:

Is it a dirty hit? Technically no, it's a shoulder to the chest. The problem is, it's very, very, veeeeeeeery late. If Perreault popped back up uninjured, there'd still be a penalty on the play for interference. In their video explanation, NHL Player Safety says that there is "no reason to expect to be his at this time or in this manner."
