This just in, the San Jose Sharks have reportedly hired former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti as a scout.

Check it out:

Um… what? A baseball GM as a hockey scout? Well, yes… kind of. Colletti is no slouch when it comes to hockey. He was formerly a beat reporter for the Philadelphia Journal in the 1980s where he covered the Philadelphia Flyers. Still… that was a lifetime ago in hockey years.

“Ned has an extensive background working in professional sports and talent evaluation and he will bring a fresh perspective to our organization’s evaluation process,” said Sharks GM Doug Wilson in a press release.

“This was a unique opportunity to add someone of Ned’s experience to our staff.”

The 65 year old Colletti has worked in baseball for nearly four decades and led the Dodgers to five post-seasons appearances during his nine-year run as the club’s GM.
