It would have been easy to cave in to public pressure, after all even sports giant the National Football League did, but the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League have refused to do so. For the sake of full disclosure and fairness, the Dallas Cowboys wanted to honor these men, but the league prohibited it.

In a tremendous show of both strength and class the Dallas Stars have announced that they will honor the five officers who's lives were stolen when a lone gunman opened fire on a protest in Dallas on July 7th 2016.

The Stars will wear decals on their helmets to commerate the lives of officers Brent ThompsonLorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith, and Patricio Zamarripa.

It's a move that will almost certainly stir up controversy, but at the end of the day these were five innocent lives claimed in a tragedy, and the National Football League should be taking notes from the Dallas Stars.
