Fans across the National Hockey League are already being asked to deal with a lot. They have been dealign without their favourite sport for months and now feel they need to put everything (summer, mostly) on hold in order to watch a historic 24-team playoff tournament in the best months of the yearly calendar.

There will be games starting at 12:00, 4:00, and 8:00 p.m. in Toronto. There will be games starting at 12:00, 4:00, and 8:00 p.m. in Edmonton. Which means that if you’re on the east coast, games —essentially playoff games, mind you —will begin at 12:00, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, and 10:00 p.m. A full month of six games a day, every day.

You have to wonder if all NHL fans are ready for this.

Well, the ones that are, and ready for action and their roles in cheering for their favourite team have been asked to play an important role. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, “NHL teams are emailing their season ticket holders asking them to submit videos of themselves cheering, chanting, and more for use on broadcasts, social, etc. in preparation for the return to play.”

We don’t know how prepared NHL fans are for the tournament and the efforts it implies to support teams throughout this unprecedented time. However, those who are more than ready are asked to do even more and we cannot wait to see how fans answer and what they will come up with to cheer for their club.

There are positive signs that fans are more than ready to take on the part : as soon as Pagnotta mentioned the teams’ desires to get videos from their fanbase, many fans answered that they cannot wait to share their celebration with the clubs.

Are you going to answer the call? Will you submit a video for your favourite team?
