The National Hockey League has just unveiled the finalists for the Norris Trophy, an annual awarded that is given out to the player considered to be the league's very best defenseman.

There were a lot of good candidates this season and it would be hard to argue that one candidate truly stood head and shoulders above all others which will make this a very interesting race indeed. In fact I have no doubt that the 3 nominations alone will cause a good deal of controversy in their own right with certain fan bases likely left feeling like their particular choice was snubbed.

Although this is a regular season award it is rather interesting to note that of the 3 finalists on this list only one of them currently remains in contention for the 2019 Stanley Cup Championship. Of course that will have absolutely no impact on the voting for the award, for which the ballots were cast prior to the start of the playoffs, but it could very well have an impact on how fans perceive the eventual winner.

Here are your final three candidates for the Norris:

San Jose Sharks' Brent Burns

Tampa Bay Lightning's Victor Hedman

Calgary Flames Mark Giordano

Which of these 3 men would get your final vote? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
