After pushing hard through all the regular season, a lot of NHLers decided to make the trip to Europe and play in the World Championship. In the end, Sweden won the gold medal in dramatic fashion and it was a fun event, although a bit overshadowed by the Stanley Cup series.

It's always a danger to join a post-season international tournament for professionals of the NHL. There's always the risk of getting hurt and putting your main career in jeopardy. It's exactly what happened when Tobias Rieder hurt his ankle playing with team Germany. Today, he underwent a successful surgery to fix things up.

The 24 years old has played 3 seasons thus far in the big show. The right winger has 92 points in 234 games and shows a good potential for the Coyotes. Hopefully, his recovery will be full and complete!
