The Edmonton Oilers may have landed themselves in a bit of trouble.

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston the National Hockey League Players' Association is currently reviewing the decision made by the Oilers to cancel a mandated day off under, effectively not respecting the rules and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.

For those unaware, today was a mandatory day off for the Oilers, however the team scrapped that idea and instead had their players show up for practice, a decision that the players reportedly agreed with on an individual level.

This of course will be irrelevant to the players' union as they will seek to enforce the rule as it best applies to their collective members as a whole, not the Oilers individually, and it will be interesting to see if any punishment or sanctions are levied against the Oilers as a result of this decision.

More to come on this story as it develops.
