So sad.

It does not matter what team you cheer for whenever you hear of a player in the National Hockey League, or anyone in the world for that matter, going through an experience like this you can not help but feel intense sympathy for them.

As many fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets will already know, as well as anyone who plays close attention to fantasy hockey, Blue Jackets' captain Nick Foligno has been out of the line up for some time now and on Monday the reason behind that absence was revealed by the man himself. The good news is that Foligno himself is in excellent physical condition, however much more concerning is the health of his beautiful daughter Milana Foligno

Milana was born with a congenital heart condition that has threatened her life every since the moment she was born back in October of 2013 and based on this latest news may still be threatening her life even now, 5 years later. According to the update from Foligno his daughter is once again in Nationwide Children’s Hospital but he says the fact that he is now back with the team is due to the fact that she is improving which is of course amazing news.

Milana's story has touched many around the National Hockey League, myself included, thanks in large part to the attention that has been put on it thanks entirely to the tireless efforts of her daddy. It was Nationwide Children's Hospital that helped diagnose Milana's condition, playing a critical role in saving her precious life, and eventually the life saving surgery was performed at Boston Children's Hospital. That could have been the end of the story and if that had been the case we likely would not have heard nearly as much about Milana's story as we know today, but in an incredible act of love and generosity the Foligno family went above and beyond to thanks those responsible for saving their daughter's life.

In 2016 Nick and his wife Janelle Foligno made a massive donation in the amount of $1 million to be split among the two hospitals who saved her life, and it brings me great joy to know that Milana is currently in the loving and caring hands of those that the Foligno family showered with generosity.

We're obviously that Foligno is back in action and back among his teammates, but first and foremost we hope for a full and speedy recovery for little Milana in this matter. Please send positive vibes to the Foligno family it what has to be an incredibly difficult time for both of these loving parents and their extended family.
