Nolan Patrick confesses about huge health issue.

This year's draft is not the most exciting there has ever been, but as usual a bunch of highly ranked kids attract a lot of attention. The rankings are always debatable, but Nolan Patrick seems to top about every specialist chart these days. The big 6'3'' forward is considered to posses the highest skills and potential in the cohort, but a disquieting revelation about his health resurfaced recently. 

According to reports, Patrick suffered a double hernia injury during the last season he's played in the CHL. It would be a crushing turn of event, but Patrick took it like a true professionnal. 

"Obviously, it wasn't the ideal season for me," Patrick said. "But I don't think it's the worst thing for me. I think a little adversity for a young kid makes you stronger as a player."

The double hernia is a very worrisome injury that ended a few careers. Patrick suffered the injury during the winter and underwent treatments to recover. He's not 100% yet, but expects to be pretty soon. He was initially misdiagnosed and it slowed his recovery. 

"I've got a little ways to go before I'm 100 percent healthy. And after a good summer of training I think I'll get there. I'm not trying to prove anything. I'm just going to try to test to the best of my abilities."

As the New Jersey Devils have the first draft pick, it could very well end up with Patrick heading to New Jersey this Septembre. A smart move would be to make sure he's 100% and ready to go before fielding him in a lost cause. The Devils will benefit greatly by adding him to the roster, but the Stanley Cup is still a long way down the road for them.
