The first meet the Bruins had against the Red Wings ended in a humbling 5-1 preseason loss at the TD Garden. With the World Cup finishing and the original roster coming back, cuts in the Bruins’ training camp are also looming.

“It goes without saying that our last game was pretty bad from top to bottom,” said McQuaid.

The Bruins are expecting to bring their A-game against the Red Wings at the Joe Louis Arena tonight. A much more experienced roster will help them tonight, with a solid pairing of John-Michael Liles and Brandon Carlo, as well as Dominic Moore down the center.

“The last game we had a bit of a hard time with our breakouts, so we worked on that a little bit,” said Spooner. “We expect a better effort for sure,” he added.
