Everyone expected more from Alexander Nylander when he came to the NHL.

However his time with the Buffalo Sabres for the eighth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft was quite the dissapointement. He finished his time in Buffalo with six points in 19 NHL games played and 86 points in 165 AHL contests played.

On Tuesday, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in return for defenseman Henri Jokiharju. Fans in the Windy City have been quite upset about the move, but GM Stan Bowman feels Nylander has more to give.

And so Nylander left the Sabres, but had a message for the team. It seems like he took a shot at the club that picked him in the first round before he was out the door… This is per Blackhawks insider Mark Lazerus of The Athletic

“Thought maybe I would be in the NHL sooner than I have been, but I’m looking forward to being part of the Blackhawks organization. They’re really good with development players. They know what they’re doing. Stuff that happened in Buffalo and Rochester is in the past.”

Let’s see if he can put his money where his mouth is. Hawks fans will be expecting more from Nylander, just as fans did in Buffalo when he was selected eighth overall…
