OHL launches investigation after former player claims he was forced to snort drugs

An update to an awful story from earlier this week.

Former Kitchener Rangers forward Eric Guest is speaking out about the abuse he suffered while a member of the team for three seasons from 2016-2019.

The now 20 year old posted a 15 minute video to Instagram earlier this week where he described how he and another teammate were coerced into snorting cocaine when he was just 16 years old.

Here’s the full video:

“For me a lot of this stuff … I would never say anything along these lines when I was still playing because you can’t,” he said in the video. “If I said something or talked about some of this stuff, like, any chance I had of playing professional hockey or anything was over instantly."

“It is what it is. But it’s not right. You can’t go to your coaches, your GMs and say this stuff is happening in the locker-room. They just don’t know about it. But this kind of stuff happens.”

Now the OHL has announced that they will be conducting an investigation into the allegations.

“These allegations constitute a serious violation of OHL rules and include allegations of criminal conduct,” a statement issued by the league read. “Once we have spoken to Eric we will have a better understanding of the next steps.”

The Rangers have also released a statement saying:

“These allegations involve former players with our team and are extremely serious and potentially criminal conduct. As a result, we have contacted the Waterloo Regional Police Services. We will participate with the commissioner and the league in their investigation.”

Needless to say, Guest's words have not fallen on deaf ears. Here's hoping that this young man gets some justice. He should also be applauded for stepping forward like he has. Kudos, Eric.
