The Edmonton Oilers have once again bolstered their blue line, this time by adding some European depth to their roster.

On Monday the Oilers announced the singing of 27-year-old former New Jersey Devils defenseman Yohann Auvitu to a one-year contract. The Oilers have not released the financial terms of the deal thus far.

Yohann Auvitu, a French-born hockey player, has thus far spent the majority of his professional career in Europe, however he earned himself a deal with the Devils last season, playing for their American Hockey League franchise the Albany Devils, and earning himself 29 games at the National Hockey League level in the process.

While this is clearly a depth addition for the Oilers, should the native of Ivry-sur-Seine, France continue to adapt to the North American game, he could become a valuable addition to the roster.
