The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed a player that in many ways has been a disappointment since being drafted in the second round of the 2010 NHL draft.

According to an official announcement from the Oilers they have signed Tyler Pitlick for one more year despite the fact that he failed to make an appearance at the National Hockey League level last season. The Oilers did not disclose the financial details of the deal but according to a report from General Fanager it's a two way deal with a cap hit of $725,000 and an AHL salary of $95,000.

Pitlick's lack of production has been one of the many sore spots for the Oilers fanbase in recent years, especially when you consider the players Edmonton could have drafted like Carolina's Justin Faulk, L.A.'s Tyler Toffoli or even Minnesota's Jason Zucker. What the Oilers hope to accomplish with this deal is unclear, perhaps they simply aren't ready to give up on Pitlick just yet.
