Oilers fans lose their minds after being fooled by McDavid trade report

Yesterday the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings made a significant trade with the Kelowna Rockets, sending blueliner Conner McDonald in exchange for two draft picks.

No big deal, right? This sort of stuff happens all the time in junior hockey, so why are we reporting on it? Well…

You can see how some Oilers fans were easily confused when they quickly saw the news report pop up on social media. 

I mean… imagine waking up, being in a stupor and turning on your phone only to see this notification:

A 1st and a 3rd round pick for McDavid!?!? WTF!?!?

For what it’s worth, McDonald is no slouch himself. The native of Delta, BC has two goals and eight points in 15 games for the Oil Kings this season and put up 19 goals and 50 points in 68 games just a season ago. 

While he has gone undrafted at this point of his career, don’t be surprised if the 20 year old receives a training camp invite from an NHL team this upcoming offseason.

As for McDavid…. well he could PROBABLY fetch more than a 1st and a 3rd should the Oilers elect to move him…
